Soooo Good! Great fresh salad bar. Terrific rib eyes. Best baked potato ever! Couldn't save room for dessert but they looked great too. Next time:)

So. What a pleasant surprise. Would have given 5 stars but but who gets 5 stars really? Yelped for steak and seafood on our way to Depoe Bay at 7pm on a Saturday nite in Feb. Very clean! Huge in our book. So friendly. Unassuming staff. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Kate was our server and we remember her name. Does that tell you anything? Ordered a steak w/ baked potatoe and fettuccini Alfredo w/ sautéed prawns. Both delicious. Steak was nicely seasoned and spot on wellness of med-rare. You could tell the pasta was made to order. We frequent the coast between Pacific City and Newport. We will be regulars at Jack's. Love the story... Love the family vibe!! Support this family owned diner!! You'll be glad you did.

Went here tonight on recommendation from our hotel. We were looking for good clam chowder that was not the flimsy excuse for chowder that has somehow become famous in Lincoln City. Great suggestion. We had wonderful thick chowder with large chunks of clam, potato and bacon. The special was the 8oz. pub steak, which we split. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with no fat or waste. Love to support family- run businesses who don't rest on their laurels.

We stopped in here on a lark but Jack's will be top on our list the next time through town. The food was understated excellence and it was made very evident that our comfort and satisfaction were of utmost importance to the lovely lady that took our order and served our meal. I had the black & blue burger with bacon and it was far beyond my expectations. My husband had the pub steak which he said was excellent. YUMMY! Loved it!

Good food and service. Homemade comfort food. Best halibut fish and chips around. Good pies!

Terrible service! Didn't get utensils or water until several min after the soup/salad, never got our waters refilled despite them being almost empty, servers basically seemed like they didn't want to come to our table. Food was mediocre and overpriced.

I've been here 3 times. The salad bar is good. So are the steaks. The hamburgers and prawns are not. I've had another dish (either chicken or pasta) that I liked, but can't recall what it was. The place is casual, service good. Bottom line - what you order matters.

Good family owned and operated steakhouse with nice western ambience. I got the filet, which was perfectly seasoned, but just a tad under done. Better under done than over done, I suppose. I'll be back here.

More like a diner with a slightly ambitious menu than a steak place. Food was good but not great. Prices were in line with that. Lots of locals in the place which was a good sign for consistency. My fried seafood combination was mixed - great oysters, good shrimp and ok fish. Our son's steak was good but nothing special. My wife's clam chowder was very thick like I like it - unfortunately she prefers more soup like chowder. Hands down the best thing we had was their bread pudding. If you want good food but aren't looking for the vacation "dining experience" then this is a good choice.

Came here twice during our trip to the coast. The food was good, the waitstaff attentive, and it wasn't overly priced. Also, portions are quite large. It's open a bit later than a lot of the places in Depoe Bay, which was nice, as we're not accustomed to having to eat dinner quite so early.

We just had dinner at Jack's. The service was wonderful and the owner/manager was delightful. It was my mother's birthday and she gave her a kiss on the cheek. My husband's ribeye was delicious and my oysters melted in my mouth.....thanks Jack's staff!

I'm not from this area however I visit it often with my family. We came in with 5 people on a busy Saturday night. The whole place was packed and there were only two waitresses but once we got our seat we had great service. I was super impressed for how packed it was. The food was delicious, especially the steak. It was cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavor. I will definitely come to this restaurant again. This is a must-go when visiting the Depoe Bay area!!

Service is already great and we just sat down! Got our soup which is delish!! It's the black bean try it!! Can't wait to try my entree!

It is a nice place to eat. The Veggie burger, I was told was good. (I did not eat any of that burgers.) The halibut and fries were good. I had a cup of thier chowder and it was really good. Nice and thick full of clams and a few chunks of potatoes. . So far the best chowder on the coast that I have tasted. I also had the sea food combo platter. . It was good, as well for fried food. How can you mess that up?? The waitress was very helpful to my family and I. She was very attentive to our needs.. There steaks are great. I have eaten here every time I come to the coast and found this place to be a gem of a place to go for good food. O and the atmosphere is down to eath. You don't have to dress up to eat here and it's kid friendly. I will be coming back hungry for more.

First impression, clean. Jacks is an extremely clean and comfortable with a welcome atmosphere. We sat in the bar and were attended to by Jackie (not the owner) and makes the place come alive with his outgoing personality and conversation. I had the roast beef french dip and my girlfriend had the smoked turkey chipotle club. Both were on point and delicious. Price was reasonable and the beer was great. Great job at Jacks. You guys were on point.

We will definitely be back here! The food tastes like home-cooked wholesome food. Hubby loved his steak, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I ordered the salmon and it was tender and delicious. The steamer clams were wonderful. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The people were super friendly and attentive. The place felt very clean and inviting. I definitely recommend this place. A surprise find for this area, for sure. :)

Having recently moved to the area my husband and I have been trying out the local eateries. After reading all the glowing reviews about Jacks, we just had to give it a try, and we were really happy that we did. Everything about Jacks was great from start to finish. The restaurant was super clean, well organized and had a comfortable feel. Our server Kate was very sweet and professional and had a wealth of knowledge about the menu. My husband had the prime rib and I had the Jalapeño burger and both were cooked to perfection! We also tried a new dark beer that we both loved, the Snake Bite Porter. In fact they really had a great beer and wine selection to accompany any meal there. All in all a great place to have a great meal. We will certainly be back!

I give it this place 2 stars because of Betty our server. Zero stars for the food. Our server was very nice and sweet but the food is horrible. I ordered the New York strip steak. First, it was overcooked (ordered it medium rare and it came out well done) which sometimes I can overlook if the steak is seasoned well and it's not chewy. But it was overlooked, no flavor & tough. Expensive $22 steak. My husband ordered the halibut special - the fish was definitely not fresh and had absolutely no flavor. We were was very disappointed and we won't be back.

We have mixed feelings about this spot, just north of Depoe Bay with some fabulous gray whale watching. My honey and I shared a Friday night rib roast special that was OK but nothing special. My steamed broccoli was plain but his mashed red potatoes tasted good. Pre-meal soups were great though the special pinto bean soup was quite salty. My clam chowder was terrific; I could easily make a meal of just the chowder. We treated ourselves to a delicious cinnamon raisin bread pudding for dessert. Decor is old school and most of the patrons seemed quite comfortable. I like the opportunity to eat lots of seafood, but there is not much other than some fried choices on their menu. I'd try another place if we are in the area again.

We stopped here because it was the only dog friendly restaurant we could find in the area and we had a very nice meal. It has local following which is usually a good sign. Our service was excellent and the outdoor seating was clean but a little noisy because it is on the highway. My wife had the steak salad which was fresh with a delicious dressing and sautéed mushrooms. Simple with an elegant twist. I had the prime rib dip sand which was good but could have had just a little more meat. I hate sandwiches which are so big you can't get your mouth on it and so many calories you can only eat half of it but my sandwich was just a little short. The taste was very good and the fries were good too. The cole slaw had sunflower seeds which I liked also. I liked this place and will eat here again. It's comfortable and unpretentious and the food is good.

My husband wanted to come in for dinner, I was a little suspicious, it's a little shack on the side of the road that sells steak, right. Well I looked up the menu and reviews and we decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad we did. We came in shortly before closing on a Sunday. Our server was delightful. My husband had the New York, I had a bite and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, it was served with chowder (it was awesome), a baked potato and three (literally) green beans. I asked if they could put their cheeseburger on Texas toast which was also on the menu, they gladly obliged. The wine pours were cheap and generous. Three glasses of wine and two dinners was about $45. We will be back.

Everytime we are in this part of town we have to stop and get lunch or dinner here. And we always end up bringing a pint of the clam chowder home its so good. Only place around that I enjoy the clam chowder like my grandma's. Their burgers and prime rib are awesome too. There isn't anything I've ordered that I haven't been satified with so far. I love this place.

We have eaten at Jack's a couple of different times that we've been in the area, and both times it has just been ok. I don't like seafood, but my husband does, so we're always in search of a place that serves seafood and steak on the coast. The food is average, nothing spectacular about the steak or the seafood, and the service is less than average. They only had one waitress was working on a fairly busy night.

Very happy we left Lincoln City to find this treasure. Family of 4 looking for good, affordable, family friendly restaurant. Not a brew pub masquerading as a family friendly.....this was just what we wanted! The server engaged our kids, which I always appreciate. Clean, modern yet comfortable and classic. Service was immediate, friendly and accurate. Steak was so good! Prices are reasonable. My husband judges a restaurant by how quickly and frequently they refill his coffee, well this place gets two thumbs from him! LOL Salads were fresh and came with nuts, cranberries and croutons. My only recommendation would be that they include rolls or bread in the meal. We paid extra for delicious garlic bread, but it was quite thick and almost too much. I'd be willing to pay another couple of bucks for the meal to get a "complimentary" and true bread basket. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the area!

Was not expecting Jack's to be this good. We had a group of 7 people Family and Friends on a Saturday night. The waitress ushered us in to a side room where we had privacy and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was outstanding friendly and attentive. We had drinks and appetizers . The steam clams were delicious. The food was brought out at the right time as we finished appetizers and soup/salad course. Five of us had the rib steak cooked to perfection and a very nice quality of meat. We will be coming back here again and again...

Clam chowder was wonderful, service was good, hubby had chili burger and it was awesome and I had hawaain burger and it was great--- would definitely come back next time we're in town!!

We gave Jack's a try based on reviews I found here on Yelp and I'm glad we did. We had a very good meal, the service was above average and it's a great value. I had the fried cod and tater tots, the fish was cooked perfectly. My wife had the prime rib dip and pronounced it was 'better than most' which is pretty high praise.

  • Jonny F.

My wife and I had an enjoyable meal in the bar last night. She had the Fettucine Alfredo and loved it! I had fried oysters- local from Yaquina Bay, and they were perfect. Dinners come with ample soup or salad, and garlic toast. Yes, this is a family owned restaurant, and the bar was full of locals eating and drinking- that to me is a good sign, and not a deterrant. For those few less than stellar reviews, I will say this- lighten up. I've had less than amazing food and service at places I have paid a whole lot more to drink & dine in. Jack's has no ocean view, all they have is honest food, and we support that. We'll stop in again for sure!

    (4)
  • Jeff B.

It's you basic, local highway diner. The food is good, but nothing special. Service is friendly and attentive. The clam chowder was pretty good as were the tater tots. Caters well to both locals and tourists.

  • Jenny W.

My new local favorite! We had the riblets appetizer and the prime rib. Fantastic! The riblets were a Korean BBQ style, which is hard to find along the coast. The prime rib was melt in your mouth tender. The fries were great, although the onion rings were not so great.. Great service, friendly and prompt. We are going back for sure!

  • Kirsteen S.

Greasy and bland. There is no reason to go to this restaurant when there are so many wonderful seafood places on the coast. Big mistake.

    (1)
  • Michelle T.

The coastline is littered with steak and seafood places, targeting the tourists and vacationers, complete with pricey menus and food ranging from meh to outstanding. We found Jacks to be a great restaurant for tourists and locals alike, with reasonable prices and fantastic food. They don't scrimp on the variety and quality of the food. The salad bar was fresh and had a good selection, the soup was fabulous, the crab and artichoke dip was thick and LOADED with crab. Along with the usual steak and seafood fare, they have a great hamburger menu as well. The owners told us that Grandpa Jack (for whom the restaurant is named) was a cattleman so they pay particular attention to the quality of beef, and the hamburger is really more of a steakburger with handground beef. We are quite fond of Jack's and particularly their commitment to providing a great restaurant with fantastic food, but keeping it affordable for the locals too. We highly recommend Jack's as a family friendly, locally owned and local friendly establishment.

  • Richard M.

Jack's took out the salad bar and provided more tables. But we were dissapointed in the menu as the Fish and Chips has been removed as well as some of the table salads. Other than a full hamburger menu, we were quite dissapointed in the selection. Probably will not be returning.

Great food and the bread pudding is to die for. This restaurant is a little north of town but well worth driving a bit north of downtown Depoe Bay for great food. We've eaten here three times and each time we've had something different and each time it couldn't have been better. We tried the Irish chowder and tuna salad sandwich and the tuna did not taste out of the can. It was excellent. The redfish dinner was perfectly cooked. The salad is fresh with a variety of tasty ingredients. The clam chowder was the best I've gotten in Depoe Bay and is tied for best overall with Mo's. The waitresses are very nice and helpful with information about what to order. Listen to their suggestions as they have been spot on the three times we've eaten there. The bread pudding is good. I love this dessert and eat it when on a menu and this bread pudding is way up on the list. Perfection!

Tried for the first time and was pleased with great tasting food. Service was good. very nice waitress. I would recommend trying this restaurant.

  • Lori R.

In my opinion this place caters to the locals who are wanting something other than fresh seafood. The prime rib was warmed up on the grill and just about all of the seafood is deep fried (fish & chips, shrimp). I tried making a surf and turf combo by adding a grilled cod to a prime rib and they wanted to charge me the full price of two entrée dinners. If you are looking for area fresh seafood I'd go someplace else. On the positive side, the halibut was awesome but again it was deep fried, their chowder was good and the prime rib was ok.

Me and my family was looking for a place to eat between Newport and Lincoln City. We saw this place having good reviews so we stopped in there parking lot. I was a little worry because the parking lot was empty and I saw they had a bad review 3 days beforehand. We decided to take a chance and I'm glad we did. Super clean and very nice inside for a roadside dinner. My wife and I had halibut and chips and a bowl of chowder. The halibut tasted fresh and had very little breading on it. waitress even split the chowder for us. Kids had there kids meals which they did like. Pop glasses never went empty. The best surprise was there butterscotch pecan bread pudding. It was the very best bread pudding I ever tasted.

  • Kat A.

Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Our waitress was outstanding, she was very friendly and professional. The steak was wonderful and the salmon was perfect. As someone who comes from a touristy town, its hard to find restaurants both locals and tourists will like, this place is perfect for both.

    (5)
  • Janee A.

Service was slow, although the place was not very busy. The food was pretty good, though I didn't really like my fish, the special, which was Lin cod with a funny-tasting sauce. The garlic smashed red potatoes, however, my partner's shrimp and fries, and salad were great. I found the chowder to be disturbingly thick. The restaurant decor is in need of something. While I would describe it as a " clean, well-lighted place, " I expect more, when I pay this much for dinner.

  • Larry M.

Good food and great service! We ate here last Sunday night based on recommendations on Yelp. We wanted to try something new to us. The chowder was very good, as was my wife's fish and chips. I had the calamari appetizer which was nothing special. We were served by "Kate" ( not sure if this was the Kait mentioned by another reviewer ) and she was very attentive and cheerful. We will be back.

Decided to give Jacks a try on the recommendation of our bed and breakfast host being that it was a Friday night and nearly every other restaurant was either booked full or a few miles drive into town. I'm glad that we did. It is a restaurant in which gives you a home feeling. Very casual setting which was great being that the last thing we wanted to do was pull out all the bells and whistles to eat. The waitress we had was a doll. Made us laugh numerous times and polite as ever. The Mr. and I both had the filets which were cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and seasoned just right. Being from a major metropolitan area I was leary on what type of steak I was going to end up with and as they say don't judge a book by its cover. If you want a relaxing meal without all of the major city hubbub then stop on into Jack's.

  • Kimberly K.

Worst dining experience I've had in quite some time. The food is very over priced. The prime rib was all fat and the halibut fish & chip were clearly frozen out of a box. Now on to the service....Our waitress was extremely rude and acted put out over the littlest of requests or inquiries. She argued with us when we said we did not think the right cheese was put on our burger that was ordered! I can't say enough bad things about this restaurant. They disobey the Oregon State Law by allowing smoking right outside the side entrance to the bar. They even had the door propped open allowing all the second hand smoke to come in right where we were seated with my 2 year old child. It was an all around FAIL! I urge anyone considering going to here to go elswhere! You couldn't pay me to eat here again!

We heard from some locals in Pacific City that this was a great place to have a steak. And they were right! We were greeted right away and felt welcome from the gate. We were served by Kait, who is a major sweetheart and excellent server! She took her time with us and tended to our every need. We felt like family and Kait even brought out a family tree to show us. My friend and I had a veggie burger on these amazing, buttery buns. The hubby's had prime rib and were very satisfied. The clam chowder was delicious as well. Clean, we felt like family, delicious food and reasonable prices and Kait was great! We will definitely be back :D

Great grilled ribeye and thank you for substituting broccoli for baked potato. Fun sitting at bar. Old school place w local surf and turf flair. So sad you were out of the prime rib for $20 special. Definitely, a local non-tourist dive.

i rarely give out a five star rating but Jack's earned it. We came in for Dinner on a Tuesday night. The place was a little slow when we got there at 6:00 pm, but the place filled up soon after. The wife had the Peach BBQ Chicken, two chicken breasts with a peach salsa. It was delicious, the chicken was not dried out, and the baked beans that came with it was great. I had the Hamburger Steak, it was very tasty with sautéed mushrooms and onions on top. The service was attentive, the only very small issue was the time it took for the beer to get to the table from the bar. A real minor detail. Overall a very good diner at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

These guys know how to make a burger. Standard fare is half pound of good stuff. My wife haad the jumbo prawns and they were cooked just right. Went back on Saturday for the Prime Rib however they do not offer it anymore. Still stayed for dinner and it was good again. I enjoyed a very good dish of Bread Pudding for desert.

Decor is rather bleak. Pan fried oysters are outstanding. Chowder is quite good but not very hot. Fish and chips were average. Fabulous, friendly service.

On the recommendation of a local, we had dinner at Jack's and were so glad we did! We had fast cheerful service from an adorable young woman, who made us smile. Our light dinners of Kalbi beef and steamed clams in a wonderful broth were delicious. The Korean BBQ beef come with steamed rice and you get 6 good sized pieces. Their wine selection is predictable, but I was very pleased with the generous glass of white wine I had. It was good! Desert was a homemade strawberry-swirled cheesecake. It was perfect, except for the whipped cream on top.I scraped the fluff off and enjoyed every bite. (Please don't add whipped cream to a perfect dessert!) We will go back and try the steaks next time! As for the ambience, the decor appeared to be new with new laminate floors, a few Western style decorations and newish wooden booths or table with chairs. Lots of wood surfaces, which means it can get a bit noisy when crowded. This is a great place to eat for just about anyone, any age!

Enjoyed a great dinner the other night. The salad was simple but loved the walnuts/cranberries. The chowder was fantastic - love it with oyster crackers! When dinner came, it looked great - love the new plates they are using and the presentation was excellent. The Prime Rib was so tender and the Parmasean mashed potatoes were creamy! I've always liked Jacks...but there was a significant difference in the food for the better! Keep it up!

My husband and I have eaten here for two days in a row and the forecast may just call for a third. Though we have primarily tried the sandwiches and a burger, we can say without a moment's pause, that every single thing we have had has far exceeded our expectations. Our servers Ina, and Shawn, were both absolutely kind, and attentive. GO HERE! They clearly take great care in making this a great eatery. P.S. The steak sandwich is to die for!

Was very good until they removed the salad bar and reduced their server staff. We used to eat at this restaurant a few times a week but we have switched our loyalty to the Surf Rider which is right next door.

  • Chuck H.

Fairly new interior, nice seating, excellent staff, great service. I had the filet salad and it was excellent. My bride had the fish and chips (cod); she said they were OK. There isn't much fish or crustaceans here, which is disappointing for a coastal eatery, but we enjoyed ourselves. The views aren't great here.

  • Jeff C.

The other reviews are correct. My wife and I went here after reading the other reviews. At first we were worried because nobody took our order for 5 minutes but once they find us we were given great service and the steak was AMAZING.
